Updated 03/24/2025 | Published 03/12/2025

Question:

Hi I have the firestone air command f3 dual airbag system with remote model number 2581. Ive been having a problem with it not turning the compressor off i checked everything and replaced relay i got from you guys nothing worked. I cant find replacement ecu. Need to get it fixed but I think the parts are discontinued. What all would I need as I dont wanna replace the entire system as its only been on truck for about 2 or 3 years and would like to keep wireless remote. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Hey Dustin, thanks for reaching out!

To replace the ECU on your Air Command F3 you need the part # F69VV for a single path but or the part # F58VV for a dual path system.

Before you do that, have you tried the bubbly water test to see if you have any air leaks in any of your hoses or connections?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I've checked everything no leaks it airs up purges at the correct pressure set on the remote. It just doesn't shut the compressor off so I unplug the fuse everytime I drive the truck so the compressor doesn't run nonstop and burn up.

@DustinY Hmm, yeah that's not great. I did end up reaching out to my contact at Firestone to see what they would say and here are some things they would like to know so they can help us look further into it: When was the kit installed? What revision number is on the ECU? What revision number is on the remote? What error codes are logging on the remote? What is the target pressure? What happens if you lower the target air pressure? Let me know the answers to these questions and I'll reach back out to my contact for you!

I got around to messing with it a bit today . It actually pulled a code for first time the code is ept i think its for pressure sensor. I'll prolly have to get new ecu and wiring harness and remote to upgrade to the new style. If you guys can get everything I'll just buy it all from you. I can't get the numbers off of the ecu till I tear it apart. I have it tucked up under the fuel tank and bed so there is no moisture to get on it. Thanks for all the help let me know if you can get the new ecu and wiring with remote.

@DustinY My contact said the EPT code is for the pressure, but they said you'll just have to replace the ECU and nothing else. Let me know what the answers are to the rest of the questions above, and I'll be happy to see what ECU you need!
