Recommended Grille Guard for a 2014 Ford F-150

Updated 12/29/2025 | Published 12/03/2025

Question:

I like the large diameter tube for the perimeter frame. But I want one made with an integrated bumper. I found one once online but cannot locate it again. Does Westin make one. I live in an area with heavy deer population and want that extra protection.

Hey Andrew. Westin does not make a grille guard with an integrated bumper for your 2014 Ford F-150. The Westin HDX Winch Mount Grille Guard with Punch Plate item # W36CQ you were looking at is going to be their style of grille guards. You probably saw a Ranchhand one.

On a light duty truck like your F-150, I recommend sticking with a grille guard like the Westin item # W36CQ, or item # W45PF if you have the front camera and don't need a winch tray. They only add 115 lbs - 140 lbs of weight to the front end. The integrated bumper ones are billed as light weight but you'll still run through ball joints.

As far as durability goes when dealing with suicidal deer, I have the Westin item # W84NF installed on my Silverado 1500. I t-boned a Malibu going 35 mph and it barely bent one of the guard bars that protect the lights. My dad lives on a farm in northern Missouri and uses his to push his cows.

What part of the country are you in?

Hey Andrew, did you end up going with one of the Westin HDX grille guards for your F-150? I'm curious how it’s holding up with the deer traffic in your area. Your feedback could really help others looking for extra front-end protection.
