What is the Offset and Backspacing of the 17-1/2" Aluminum Phoenix Trailer Wheel?

Updated 12/01/2025 | Published 11/19/2025

Question:

These are the OEM wheels on my Grand Design 5th wheel. Im looking to add an additional spare tire for emergencies. I dont need the spare to be as fancy as this but want to be sure it can fit properly. I cant find any backspacing or offset info on this wheel to be sure.I would like to find a steel wheel that would work for my purposes. Not sure if you have this information or a link to one one here that would definitely work. Thank you.

Hey Gary, thanks for the information. The Aluminum Phoenix Trailer Wheel item # LH88VR has zero offset. The backspacing on a 6-3/4" wide rim with zero offset is 3-3/8".

We do not have a steel wheel in that 17-1/2" size without offset.

I highly recommend picking the item # LH88VR wheel up and using it as a spare if it matches your current wheels. The Lionshead wheel styles are extremely hard to source replacements for. If you damage one down the road you won't have to hunt down a replacement this way. Cost wise a plain 17-1/2" steel wheel is not going to save you much.

What size tires are you running on your Grand Design?

Still running the factory Cooper ST215/75R 17.5 Valid point for the replacing with the factory wheel. I know they stop making them randomly. I appreciate the info on the offset and backspacing.

@GaryT Thanks for the information. I was hoping we'd have a wheel tire combo available with a wheel that would work but they all have offset. You're welcome for the specs on the item # LH88VR wheel.
