Best Air Bag Kit And Compressor For 2025 GMC Sierra 3500 SRW

Updated 12/01/2025 | Published 11/07/2025

Question:

Hi! I am looking to add an air bags to my 2025 GMC Sierra 3500 SRW but am unsure which kit is my best option. Most of the time it is used to pull an equipment trailer and skid loader, which does squat some, but not excessively. In the winter it has a salter in it that is between 3500-4000 lbs and could use the extra support/stability the most then. I was looking at the Firestone W217602709, but was unsure if the 7,500lb capacity would compromise the ride quality over the standard Ride Rite 5,000lb capacity when unloaded. I would also like to add an onboard air compressor. Is the Air lift 74000EZ a good option for this application? If not, what would you suggest? Thanks!

Hey Jayden, thanks for reaching out! The Firestone W217602709 (part # F2709) is the correct air bag kit for your 2025 GMC Sierra 3500, and I’d definitely recommend sticking with the 7,500-lb bags for your setup. Trucks that carry consistent bed loads, like campers or salt spreaders, really benefit from that added support. Both the 5,000 and 7,500 lb kits have a minimum pressure of 5 PSI, so when you’re unloaded you can air them down for a smooth, factory-like ride.

As for the compressor, the Air Lift # AL74000EZ is a great match for your application. It can inflate up to 100 PSI, while the air bags are rated for 150 PSI max, though I doubt you would ever need to run them that high. Of course that is depending on your load. In my experience, like 20-60 PSI tops is probably closer to what you would be running. Still, you’ll have plenty of range with this system, and the included remote makes it easy to fine-tune the pressure from the cab for any hauling situation.

Hey Jayden, how did the Firestone air bags and the Air Lift compressor work out on your Sierra 3500? It sounds like that combo should give you great support with the salter and still ride smooth when unloaded. Your feedback could really help others setting up their trucks for similar loads.
