Question:

I have an East to West 5th wheel trailer, Tandara 285RL, 2021 year. I am looking at the GEN-Y gooseneck hitch. Max gross weight on the trailer is 13500 lbs. Which hitch do you recommend? My tow vehicle is a 2022 Ram 3500 longbed with the factory tow package.

Hey George. In order to recommend the correct Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box, I am going to need the information on the sticker that's attached to your current pin box. The sticker should say date of manufacture and have some form of RPO, LCI, or serial number on it. If you could email me a picture of it or carefully put all that information where it says Reply to Jerred H, I can find the right gooseneck pin box for you.

Also if yours says Turning Point or Rhino Box on it let me know because those bolt patterns are easy to identify replacements for.

You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. Safety chains are required for gooseneck connections and they are not included with the pin boxes. These will attach to that cross looking cutout by the Gen-Y logo.

My pin box has a sticker on it - MORryde Part # SPB72-1621HD. Pin box rating 18,000 LBS. Sorry for the delay in responding. Unit is not onsite.

@GeorgeT Thanks for the information! Since your East to West 5th wheel trailer has a 1621HD pin box you will need the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY38FR. If you do not want to reuse your current pin boxes hardware you can replace it with the Installation Bolt Kit for Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel Pin Boxes and 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapters item # GY86FR. You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR.
