Troubleshooting Difficult to Raise/Lower Horse Trailer Ramp
Updated 11/04/2025 | Published 10/25/2025 >
Question:
Hi. I have a Hawk Balanced Ride bumper pull horse trailer. The rear ramp is ridiculously heavy. Would you be able to suggest anything for this, short of replacing the ramp? Thank you.

Hey Teresa, does the ramp have any type of spring assist built into it already? Is it possible that the hinge is in need of lubrication and that is what is making it feel heavy as the hinge is difficult to turn on the ramp?

It has springs. The trailer is less than a year old. It was just as heavy when I got it.
