Aftermarket Roof Rack Crossbars And Roof Top Tent For 2015 Nissan Rogue

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 10/22/2025

Question:

I have a Nissan Rogue with OEM rail and crossbars. I plan to purchase a roof top tent. However, the rear crossbar on the Rogue is lower than the front bar which would result in an angled floor to the tent. I need to replace the cross bars with bars that are adjustable with spacers. What do you recommend? I am also researching roof top tents. The dynamic rating for the rogue is only 100 lbs.

Hey Alan, that's not a super common issue, but I looked it up and see what you're talking about; the oem crossbars are wide and flat but if they're at an angle, they won't work well for a tent.

Since you have the roof rails still, you can unbolt the oem crossbars and put new crossbars on those factory roof rails running parallel with the vehicle. You'll have a tough time finding a tent under 100lbs to comply with the vehicle's roof rail rating, however, I found a few options that will work!

I'd go with the affordable but dependable Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars # MAL84AR. This will give you a good base for a tent like Front Runner Rooftop Tent - 2 Person # FR26RV which only weighs 93lbs when empty.

Let me know what you think about this setup! I think you'll be happy with the fit and the affordability compared to some crazy setups that break the bank.
