Troubleshooting L Brackets Shifting When Using Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System
Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/21/2025 >
Question:
We have the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW and have been having issues with the L bracket shifting. Weve been told that the bars need to be removed before parking it, or driving on dirt roads. Weve never seen or heard anyone having to do that - Is that the case, or is this system not sized correctly? We have a NOBO 19.2 and are towing it with a Toyota Tundra.

Hey Elaine,
Typical removing the system when on dirt roads or making sharp turns/angles when backing up to park is recommended. Leaving them on can cause damage to parts of the system. However, in most cases the L brackets shifting is due to over/under tightening or incorrect bracket placement. Fastway says the bolts are to be torqued 65 ft lbs and it is important to tighten them alternatingly. You want to make sure the brackets are correctly placed too, 27-30 inches back from the system on the trailer frame. Those factors tend to be the main cause of shifting L brackets.
The system you have looks correctly rated for your setup. I would recommend checking out the system and making sure it is placed and tightened to specs next time you use it.

Hey Elaine, how did things go after you checked the placement and torque on the L brackets for your Fastway e2 system? Did tightening them to spec stop the shifting you were seeing? Your update could make it easier for others using the same setup.
