Will the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter Work w/a 16 Volt Tesla Electrical System?

Question:
C59496. Looking at this for my 2022 Tesla S. My hitch installer guy said to check with you to see if this will work with the Tesla 16volt system? Or will I need a step down transformer for it to work? If so, do you have a transformer? Thx.

Hey John. Your installer is 100% correct. The Curt Powered Tail Light Converter item # C59496 will not work with a 16 volt system. From what I was told you need a 24v universal connector and a step down converter adapter. We currently do not have anything that will work.

Hey John, were you able to find a 24-volt connector and step-down converter that worked with your Tesla’s 16-volt system? Knowing what solution you used could help others with the same setup.
