Is There a Recommended PSI Rating for Air Lift 1000 Kit on a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder?

Updated 10/17/2025 | Published 10/15/2025

Question:

My TV is a 2017 Pathfinder Platinum 4WD. The tongue weight of the trailer is approx. 400. What would you recommend as an initial inflation PSI?

Hey Tom!

Once you've got the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL63WQ installed, I recommend filling them to 10 psi and seeing how that feels with everything loaded up. None of the air bag manufacturers have a charting for each weight rating because each towing/hauling situation is different, and every driver has a preference to how much help they get from the air suspension as well.

Start with 10 psi and then make adjustments from there depending on what you'd like your towing setup to feel like (whether you want more or less support).

If you plan on towing often (and adjusting the air bags often), it might be a good idea to pick up a compressor kit like the Air Lift # AL79FF which plugs into the 7-Way at the back of your Pathfinder for power.

Do you tow a camper, or more like a utility trailer?

It's a 21 foot travel trailer that weighs about 3500#. There was quite a bit of sag previously, so I started with 20 psi. I'll be interested to see how it works.

@TomO That sounds like a good place! Are you using a weight distribution system at all?

@Jon No weight distribution yet. Will try this first. The new trailer is the same weight as my old airstream bambi which towed fine without it

@Thomas Sounds like a plan! If you end up wanting to go with a weight distribution just let me know and I'll be more than happy to make a recommendation for you!
