Best Bike Rack For Carrying Heavy Electric Bike With 2015 Lexus CT200h With 1-1/4" Hitch

Updated 10/15/2025 | Published 10/12/2025

Question:

I drive a 2015 Lexus CT200h with a 1-1/4 Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver. I also happen to own a Lectric XP4 750v ebike. The weight of the XP4 without the battery is 62lbs. Can I use it to transport one ebike without the battery?

Hey Babu. I've got a bike rack that will work for you but the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack item # HLY66ZR will not work with your 1-1/4" Curt Hitch item # C11200. What you have is called a class I hitch and there's only a few bike racks that have a high capacity that are going to work with it. Additionally, you can not use this bike rack with an 1-1/4" to 2" adapter.

I recommend the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack item # TH903202. This bike rack will fit a class I 1-1/4" hitch. It has a similar mounting style where the padded grips will secure your bike by the frame, seat post, or handle bar post. It has a 65 lbs per bike capacity and weighs only 45 lbs. Like the Destination item # HLY66ZR, the EasyFold item # TH903202 also comes with a ramp that mounts to the carrier. It also has a tilt feature so you can access your trunk with the bike on the rack.

Please note it is highly recommended to remove the battery from your bike rack when you're transporting it with a vehicle. A simple fender-bender risks rupturing the battery and causing a fire.

I've attached a couple of pictures below and linked a demo video we made so you can see the features of this bike rack.
