Why Does a 2021 Ford Ranger Have a 220 Hz Signal on the Turn Signals?

Updated 10/06/2025 | Published 10/03/2025

Question:

Why does my 2021 Ford Ranger seem to have a 220 Hz signal superimposed on the trailer right and left turn signal output. Im trying to create a tester and the signal is interfering with my detection software.

That 220 Hz signal is standard on newer vehicles. It's from the trailer towing module and it identifies any issues and relays them to the onboard computer.

Are you trying to set up a flat tow or are you towing a trailer and having issues?

I'm just trying to build a detector to show that there is signal coming from the truck and some other things. I'm using a analog to digital converter and it is having problems with that signal.
