Do I Hook Safety Chains To Pintle Hitch Or The Truck? Weigh Safe Pintle Ball Setup

Question:
Do I hook safety chains to the hitch itself or somewhere else with this pintle setup?
asked by: Kyle
Expert Reply:
Kyle, your safety chains attach to the receiver hitch loops on the truck, not to the pintle hitch itself. That’s standard practice for both pintle and ball towing setups. Do you know if you need the 6" drop # WS52ER or the 8" drop version # WS97WR from Weigh Safe? I've attached a pic to help you determine.
Also, these have built-in tongue weight scales and can swap from pintle to ball, so it's super unique and premium!
What trailers are you planning to pull most often with chains - equipment, dump, or something lighter?
