Recommended Electric Trailer Dolly That Works on Gravel w/ a 6,000 lbs Travel Trailer

Updated 09/30/2025 | Published 09/28/2025

Question:

I have a 2023 Airstream Flying Cloud 23FBT, I park in a tight storage area. My enclosed unit has a concrete floor, however the lot is gravel. My TrailerValet RVR5 has issues turning my airstream dual axle on gravel. Will these wheel dolly’s be able to maneuver on gravel?

Hey Brian. The Trailer Valet RVR3 item # TVRVR3-BB225, you were looking at, is actually smaller than your Trailer Valet RVR5 item # TVRVR5. It's going to do even worse job on gravel plus it's way under-capacity for your 2023 Airstream Flying Cloud 23FBT.

The Parkit360 Transformer Electric Trailer Dolly item # PA66VR also works with travel trailers and it is going to be your best option. It has a 10,000 lbs capacity and the large rear tires work great on gravel. We played around with one of these here and you can turn a trailer on a dime on gravel and pavement.

How loose is the gravel in your storage area and are you moving your Airstream when it's fully loaded?

Storage space is enclosed w/ concrete flooring. We park it empty… so probably 5500 lbs max. Just gravel in front of garage door and all outside.

@BrianJ Right on! So how loose is the gravel? Is it new or packed down? I'm wondering if you're over capacity with the item # TVRVR5 and that's contributing to the issue. The tongue weight capacity is only 550 lbs. If your trailer's empty you may be shifting more weight to the front. You may want to try putting something heavy on the back of the trailer and see if that helps.

@JerredH Loose gravel, I can try putting weight in back… it’s the tank tracks that don’t work too well in the loose gravel

@BrianJ Yeah, I figured the tracks were just pushing rocks around and/or spinning if the gravel is loose. There's not much you can do about that.
