Question:

I have a 2019 Acura mdx and installed a 4 pin modular kit. my trailer is 5 pin and I need a 5 pin tow vehicle with back up lights to deactivate surge brakes. I bought a 5 pin Hopkins to 4 pin adapter with blue wire to hook into back up lights on vehicle. Where do you do that and what color is the wire? Also is there a 5 pin plug in module for this vehicle that I should install instead? Thanks

Hey Paul, welcome back. They do not make a plug and play 5-way trailer connector for a 2019 Acura MDX. Just a 4-way connector like the Curt item # C56192. The blue wire on the Adapter 4-Pole to 5-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter item # 47515 does connect to the reverse circuit/back up lights on your vehicle but I don't have anyway of knowing what wire it is.

You'll need to use a circuit tester like item # PTW2992 and a buddy to test the wires going to your tail lights. You'll need to find the wire that has voltage running through it only when your Acura is in reverse.
