Can 5th Wheel Rails Be Installed In A Bed That Already Has A Gooseneck Hitch Installed?

Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 08/28/2025

Question:

Looking at a trailer that comes with a Pullrite Superglide hitch. My 2006 Dodge Ram short bed already has a BandW turnover gooseneck hitch. Will the BandW custom rail kit part BWRVK2600 fit in my bed along with the turnover hitch?

Hi Joe!

Already having a gooseneck hitch in the bed of your 2006 Dodge Ram will complicate things. The B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # BWRVK2600 cannot be installed as the brackets install in the same place as the gooseneck and will cause issues, so that's a no go. We do have the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # 16310 that will fit in the gooseneck, but this cannot be used with auto sliding hitches, which the PullRite SuperGlide (like the 16k # PUL93RR) is.

With all that said, you have two options. You can either remove the gooseneck and install the rails, or you would need to go with a B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3400.

What kind of camper are you looking at?

Hi Joe, Did you decide on a solution for your Dodge Ram with the PullRite SuperGlide hitch? I'm curious to know if you opted to remove the gooseneck for the rails or went with the B&W Companion Slider. Your experience could really help others facing the same decision.
