Adding New Locking Door Latch To A 6' by 10' Enclosed Trailer Side Door
Published 08/27/2025 >
Question:
I’ve got a 6x10 enclosed cargo trailer with a small side door that doesn’t shut or seal well anymore due to an old worn out and bent latch setup. Would this 36inch latch be the right fit?

Yes Brian, the 36 inch latch # M393FR is perfect for side doors or smaller rear barn doors on a 6x10. The shorter rods give you plenty of holding power without running past the door frame. Just double-check that your door height is at least 3 feet and you’ll be set.
Are you planning to replace just the latch, or the hinges too?
And for other folks reading - if you upgraded a side door latch, did you notice a big difference in keeping dust or water out?
