Updated 09/08/2025 | Published 08/22/2025

Question:

Ive questions about replacing a Coleman Mach 8 ducted in multizone system. Currently 3 Mach 8 and 2 propane furnaces. Zone controller bypass? Thermostat reprogramming? Ducting air flow? Thanks! Vince

Hey V, you can use the Furrion Chill Cube like the part # FR49TD to replace your Coleman Mach but you should note that when doing so you have to replace everything as nothing from you Coleman setup can be used with this aside from the furnace. This does come with a thermostat that has furnace controls like you need as well. These are all single zone controller models but we've heard a multi zone setup might be on its way.

If you wanted to just replace one of your units though you could do so with the Chill Cube.

This setup is for standard RV roof ducts but not the top down setups where there isn't a visible air box inside the interior and lag bolts are used. We've heard of people making this work with a top down setup but we don't have a way to recommend that. Any other questions?

Thanks - Yes. I understand all that. My question doesn't focus on the Furion installation, rather removing one of three Colemsn Mach 8 - and having the other two Mach 8's and two propane furnaces operational. I'm removing the Zone 1 Mach 8. Specifically how to do: Zone controller bypass? Thermostat reprogramming? Thanks!

@FurionM We don't carry Coleman so we don't have access to their parts and support but I would assume it's a matter of just removing the wiring of the controller of the unit you are removing and getting into the menu and selecting that there's only two zones. Probably be a good question for Coleman.

@JamesonC Accomplished the swap a couple days ago. Heres notes of the work. ### Replaced the front/zone 1 Mach 8 air conditioner with a Furion Chill Cube non ducted unit. Also, a Cielo Breeze Max thermostat. ### 2011 Tiffin Phaeton DP with 3 Coleman Mach 8 air ducted conditioners (lateral ducts and top down mounted), 2 propane furnaces, RV Comfort CZ zoned thermostat. ### Outline of steps required... Remove existing Mach 8 unit. Remove zone controller. Splice zone bus wiring Disconnect other wires Reuse 120vac power feed with new unit Cut the existing 14x14 hole through the ceiling. Removing the return/supply divider. Block off ducting. Move the front furnace from zone 1 to zone 2 by changing the thermostat wiring appropriately. Reprogram the thermostat, remove the air conditioner and furnace from zone 1, and add the furnace to zone 2. Test operation to ensure remaining Mach 8 air conditioners and both furnaces work properly. Install Furion Chill Cube air conditioner and air handler. Optional... Install Cielo Breeze Max thermostat. It automatically learns from the Chill Cube remote. Provides local control from desktop or wall mount thermostat and local/remote control from phone app. Done... Next - likely replace the center Mach 8 with another Furion Chill Cube. ### Zone and thermostat wiring diagram.
