Replacement Dometic 942 Furnace For 2020 RV Travel Trailer

Question:

I’m replacing a Dometic 942 furnace in my 2020 trailer. Is the DMC74MR basically the same thing, just with a different name? – Justin

Justin, Dometic sometimes shifts model codes between OEM and aftermarket. Your 942 is essentially the same as the 40k BTU # DMC74MR doorless but the dimensions could be a bit off. The biggest thing is confirming dimensions: 20” deep x 7” tall x 16-1/2” wide. If those match your cutout, it’s a drop-in replacement. It looks like yours may be 9" tall instead; this is normal and not an issue at all. If in a cabinet, you won't have to worry unless you want to fill the gap with something from a hardware store. If not in a cabinet and you actually have a furnace door, you'd want to use White Door # DMC24RR or Black Door # DMC57RR as trim to fill that space.

By the way, are you planning to install this yourself or have a shop handle it?
