Will a Side Vent Help to Reduce Heat Inside a Race Car Trailer While Sitting Parked and Cl Up?

Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 08/17/2025

Question:

I have a roof vent with maxx air cover on my race car trailer. Interior temps when sitting parked and closed up can be very high 115deg. If I was to install your side vents on the rear ramp door would that help with natural convection? I dont want them on the side of the trailer and wondered if positioning them on the rear ramp would be helpful. Thanks

Hey Pat! What kind of race car do you have?

Exterior vents like the Redline # HMAV2-AVT2 will probably help a bit with the stuffiness, but it's not going to do a ton for lowering the temp - especially when parked. Just opening up your MaxxAir roof vent will be more effective than an exterior vent.

Something that will really make a difference is the Ultra-Fab Solar-Powered Plumbing Vent # UF53-945001. It's marketed for a plumbing application, but it would be perfect for your setup because the small fan is powered by the small solar panels on top of it, so you get a constant bit of airflow without draining your battery.

We've got some wonderful reviews about how this vent helps to keep the temp down in some varying setups, so I've linked a few pictures for you to see, but you're more than welcome to go through those reviews too!

What do you think about the vent?

Hey Pat, did you get a chance to try out the solar-powered vent for your trailer? I'd love to hear how it worked for you, as it could help others looking to manage high temperatures in their trailers.
