Hello, I am looking for a suitable kayak racks for our application. We are looking to transport 2 sit in kayaks on our Jeep Wrangler. We have a round bar roof rack on our Jeep. I could send pictures of roof rack if needed. Learned of your site thru Google and Wild RV channel on YouTube. Thanks for your time with this message. Paul Ording

Hey Paul, thanks for reaching out. Awesome to hear you found us on the Wild RV youtube channel!

The sit-in kayaks are all fairly standard as far as length width and shape so these will be pretty easy to carry on your wrangler. There are several options that will work with a round bar roof rack. A J-style carrier is what I typically use. They are easy to get the hang of and they won't necessarily break the bank.

How often do you plan to take your kayaks out? Just a few times a year? Or are you out there like every weekend?

If you plan to get out frequently, I recommend going with the Kuat Class 2 Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # C2R1B. It will clamp right on to the round crossbars. It has a capacity of 80 lbs which covers most any standard kayak. The carrier itself is made of aluminum so it is rust-proof and durable.

If you will not be using it as often, the etrailer Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # e98878 is what I recommend. It is a solid J-style carrier and for a solid price too.

Whichever one you go with, I also recommend grabbing the Rightline Gear Moki Door Step # RL100660. This is a step that attaches to the door jamb. It will make getting kayaks up on the roof and tying them down much easier.

Let me know if you have any question on any of this. Or if there is a specific carrier or specific features you are wanting just let me know.

Hey Paul, did you decide on a kayak carrier for your Wrangler? I'm curious if the Kuat or etrailer option worked out for you, especially with how often you plan to hit the water. Let me know if you need any more help!

@JesseM Thanks for following up. Right now we are considering our options with the Jeep or our Ford Explorer and possible towing a teardrop style trailer. Just not sure which avenue to go at this time. I do have an additional request because we are trying to find mounting options of a 270 degree awning we purchased a few months ago and attaching it to the roof rack that was installed and came with the Explorer when we bought it. I can provide some photos if it’s something you might be able to assist with? Also, do you have any recommendations on shops you do business with in our 72023 Cabot, Arkansas area? I can’t THANK YOU enough for the follow up and the outstanding customer service! Have a blessed weekend! Paul

@PaulO Hey Paul, I am happy to look into the awning thing. What questions do you have exactly? It sounds like your awning is crossbar mounted. Does it clamp around the crossbars? Or does it mount to the top of the crossbar? There is no way to add pictures on here, but you can email them to me if you think it will help. My email is [email protected]. Let me know what questions you have and any additional information you have. I am happy to take a look.
