Updated 09/17/2025 | Published 08/15/2025

Question:

Howdy! My 2017 Jayco Jay Feather led stripe light that is attached to the awning is pealing off. Can you please recommend what I should use to secure the falling led strip light? it appears to be sewed on

Hey Jesse!

If it's just the LED light strip that's peeling off, then I recommend picking up some strong adhesive double-sided take and securing it back in place with that, but if you're talking about the "bar" that the light installs into, then you'll either need to figure out a way to sew it back in place, or completely remove it and do an overhaul replacement of your light kit.

Is it just the light strip? Or are you looking at the bar/bracket as well?

Hi Jon, The led strip is flexible. The strip has a backing that i can attach any adhesive. I just didn't know what type. There are so many on the market to choose from. I did invest in some double sided sticky tape and a roll of heavy duty Velcro. Thank you!!!!

@JesseV You're welcome! The best adhesive would be one that's designed for the outdoors since it will be exposed to the elements. Since you already have your tape and Velcro, I'd say try that out and then if that fails you can invest in something that will resist the outside better.

Good morning Jon, I finally attempted to repair my exterior lights on my Jayco Trailer. Out of frustration I ended up removing the strip. It was looking crappy. Know I'm in the market for a new strip of LED lights. Thank you!

@JesseV What do you think about the Buyers Products LED Light Strip # 337562133202? Do you think this will work as a replacement for what you currently have?

@JonG Yes!! I believe so. There is a two pin connector on the old strip, that connects to the travel trailer. Thanks

@JonG Now I'm curious if the adhesive backing would stick to fiberglass? I'm not planning on attaching to the awning like the original. I don't want use the provided two hole straps.
