Is There Switch Available to Disconnect RV Charge Circuit from 7-Way

Question:

Hello, After storing for 10 plus years my 5th wheel pigtail in the back of the pin box I touched an interior bolt in the box and got an arc for the first time from the charging terminal in the female plug. The edge on the end of the bolt got into the recess enough to complete the circuit. Makes sense for that to be hot from the RV batteries but thought there would be a relay maybe in the rv that would close that circuit unless hooked to the TV? Not a big deal I can cover the plug when storing again just curious though if always hot on the RV side is normal. Thank you

Hey Glenn, generally there isn't any type of relay put on the 12 volt charge circuit on the trailer side of the wiring to prevent this type of thing as it's pretty rare but you could always pretty easily put a switch on the circuit between the 7-way and the battery like with the # 3376391005 but it would be one more thing to have to remember to turn off and on.

Thank you Jameson, I already had a disconnect installed this happened when I parked and was setting up the RV to use. Funny in all the years I have had a 5th wheel it took this long for me to touch that bolt. Thanks again!
