Question:
We just bought a 2021 Heartland Sundance 27foot TT with an empty tongue weight of 500, there about, and and total empty weight of 5,000 and a bit. My tow vehicle is a 2015 Chevy 3500 dually. Yes, way over kill! Ive towed big fifth wheels and gooseneck horse trailers with the truck, but Im done with heavy fifth wheel bed hitches and I prefer my bed empty and ready for work. So, weve gone with a simple and light bumper pull camper. None the less, the more I read about weight distribution hitches the more I think my big olfoot truck would still benefit from one, especially in the ride comfort department. Whats yalls opinion?

Hey Eric, this is a great question. For a truck as heavy duty as yours and a trailer as light as what you have a weight distribution system isn't quite as important to have but it does come with some "drawbacks" or things to consider.
So you will get slightly better ride quality and definitely less sway with a WD system but the difference would be not quite as noticeable with a truck like yours. What you do have to consider is that a WD system makes backing the trailer up a little more involved as most of the time the bars have to come off unless you are just going basically straight back (you can turn a bit but not too much). Plus it's another thing that has to be setup when you tow as well as take off when you get done towing. The components aren't exactly lightweight either and would have to be stored somewhere.
If ride quality is your number one consideration a Roadactive Suspension enhancement kit like the part # RAS3611-CHD that fits your truck would actually be your best option. It for sure gives you a better ride quality and handling and only requires an easy one time install and setup. The benefits also are there when unloaded as well. Let me know which way you are leaning and if you have any other questions.
