Which Port Should The Brake Line Attach To On Kodiak Disc Brake Kit KOD59FR

Updated 08/05/2025 | Published 07/31/2025

Question:

I just purchased two sets of KOD59FR and will receive them tomorrow. I removed the old brakes today and noted that each caliper on the trailer had two hydraulic lines running to them. Does it matter which hose goes to which fitting on these KOD59FR calipers?

Hi Chris!

I am not 100% sure why you have two lines going to each brake, but I think that was to daisy chain them together. This was supposed to make bleeding the brakes easier, but I'm not sure if it really did much or not.

The Kodiak # KOD59FR you got will need to have the lines run from the actuator to each individual brake caliper. It will also need to be the middle port on the caliper that is connected to the brake line. The other two ports are for bleeding. I included a picture that shows that better than I can explain it.

Out of curiosity, do you know what brand your trailer is? I can see it's a boat trailer, but it's been a while since I saw brakes hooked up like this.

Thank you for the great response. The lines I removed were daisy-chained and used a special fitting / bolt to combine the two brake lines on a single port caliper. The trailer is a 23’ Coyote Mfg Co trailer made for Chaparral/Robalo boat. The brakes were made by Knott. Thanks again
