Is there a way to mount a Rhino Rack Batwing awning to this cargo basket?

Hey Eric,

The Rhino Rack Batwing # RR33200 needs to install in the channel of a crossbar or platform rack from Rhino Rack. There is not a way or adapter to attach that to the roof basket # SPS5060-1101. You would need to either get the crossbars or platform rack to install. Luckily with either of those there will still be room to attach both items to the cross bars.

What kind of roof rack do you currently have on your vehicle?

I just have the factory rails/crossbars at the moment. Was hoping to get the Surco basket that connects directly to the factory rails to keep it lower profile. Are there channel crossbars I could get that will work with both the basket and the Batwing mount?

@EricW The Batwing does fit a variety of crossbars as long as there is a channel in the top for it to mount to. I know you said factory bars, but do you know what brand or model they are? Rhino Rack does have a roof rack that would be compatible with both. Do the factory bars at least have a top channel or t-slot for mounting accessories?

@NickS No, crossbars have an elliptical cross section with no channel. The factory rails have channels on the inside, though, which the current crossbars are connected to.

@EricW For the Rhino Rack Batwing to work you would need a set of crossbars that it is confirmed to work with in order for it to properly install. Without knowing the exact brand and model of your crossbars I can't confirm if its a fit or not. Chances are since yours have a different style it is not compatible and you would need to go another route for one that works universally. Most styles require the top channel or t-slot in the crossbar.
