Suspension Enhancement for a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 With MaxTow Trailer Package

Updated 08/02/2025 | Published 07/29/2025

Question:

Hi, I am looking for a suspension enhancement for a 2016 gmc sierra 1500. It does have the max tow trailer package with the 7600 gvwr compared to the standard 7000 gvwr. I tow a 8000 lb 5th wheel camper with about 1500 lb hitch weight 10 to 12 times per year so I am looking for something that will reduce sag and improve stability but I dont want a harsher ride or added ride height when I am driving the vehicle without any load. I am hoping that you can suggest a solution. Thanks Warren

The best overall option is going to be airbags. Since you mentioned wanting to maintain a comfortable unloaded ride, airbags will still give you that. While you might notice a slight difference, it won’t be anything harsh or uncomfortable.

Just a quick heads-up: the correct kit will depend on your truck’s bed length. I’ve listed options for you below, along with a few optional accessories and a compressor kit in case you’re interested in having onboard air for added convenience.

# AL57204 - Does not fit models with 8' bed. Will work with an in bed hitch.
# AL57211 - Designed for models with 8' bed only. Will work with an in bed hitch. (Drilling through frame is required)
Both kits above will not work if your truck is equipped with the MagneRide suspension.

# AL25854 - Air Lift Load Controller Compressor System for Air Helper Springs- Heavy Duty - Single Path
# AL21838 - Air Lift Union Tee
# AL10530 - Air Hose Cutter

Please let me know if you have any questions about these parts.
