Charger for RV for Gel Batteries that Power 12 Volt Fridge

Updated 07/29/2025 | Published 07/24/2025

Question:

I have 2 Gel batteries, 12V 200ah each. I would like to run a 6 cubic foot 12 volt refrigerator on the Gel Batteries. Best way to do it? Need a Gel Batt charger, and switch between batteries and Fridge. Thank you for your help. Bob PS Series or Parallel with the 2 batteries.

Hey Bob, for a battery charger that was designed for gel batteries we have the 25 amp Progressive Dynamics part # PD922524 which will work great to keep your batteries topped off.

The fridge would then wire to your battery bank in parallel and for a switch I would need to know the amperage draw of the fridge. This is also true for the wiring you'd need to use as well.

@BobF The part # 37213815 is rated for 21 amps and then for wiring 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-2-1 which we sell by the foot would work great. This is a double bonded 2 wire that will allow you to easily run power and ground at same time.
