Moira, that’s right in this actuator’s sweet spot since the Demco DA86 Drum Brake Actuator # DM78CV is rated for 8,600lbs. As long as you're running hydraulic drum brakes and your tongue fits the 3 inch wide channel, the # DM78CV will handle it like a champ.

Bonus: the included solenoid helps lockout the brakes when you are reversing. Surge brakes by nature engage the brakes when reversing if you don't use a lockout. Manual lockout is also included if you don't want to mess with wiring stuff. :)

What trailer do you have and what do you normally haul with it?

Hey Moira, did you find that the Demco Brake Actuator worked well with your single axle trailer? I'm curious to know how it handled your setup, as it could help others with similar trailers.
