How to Remove the Flair-It PEX Straight Valve Stop Fitting FL85VR

Updated 07/17/2025 | Published 07/15/2025

Question:

Do you have any suggestions how to remove the broken FL85VR Flair-It PEX Straight Valve Stop Fitting - 3/8inch Barb x 3/8inch Barb and replace with the new one? I can’t get it to budge. Not exactly a lot of room under the single door sink ?????

Hey Jacqueline. You'll need to unthread the ends of the Flair-It PEX Straight Valve item # FL85VR and pull them back away from the fitting. Once they're disconnected you should be able to twist the pex piping back and forth to wiggle the pipes off of the barbed connectors.

How did you break your old fitting?

That’s my problem I can’t unthread it. I know what to do from there. Thought maybe you had a trick to it. It’s in my LQ horse trailer. I connected the water and one of the valve blew off. I have a regulator on my trailer to control the water pressure if that was your next question.

@Jackie I would get some pliers or cutters and break the fitting then. Just cut right through the center of it then use pliers to unthread the ends. If its already broken there's no need to take it off in one piece especially if the threads are stuck. Someone might've used pipe dope on those threads. You don't need to but I've seen it done before and it'll lock them up.
