Question:

I have a question about your Morryde safe-T rail telescoping hand rail number MR54BR. I have a 2003 Montana 5th wheel trailer model2955RL i would like to install the railing on this 5th wheel trailer and the directions say to mount the bottom bracket even with the bottom of the entry door, the question is the bottom 12 inches of the lower trim is mainly unsupported aluminum trim , but above that is good solid material to mount the railing on. can i still use the style of railling on my particular trailer. i like the legnth this railing comes out to as my wife has a hard time getting up the steps from recient surgery, and this would work out well. let me know what you suggest. Thank you

Hello Dan,

Yes, you can still use the MORryde Safe-T-Rail # MR54BR on your 2003 Montana 2955RL, even if the bottom 12 inches of trim are mostly unsupported. The key is to make sure you're mounting both brackets into solid material, and it sounds like you've got good structure just above that trim. It’s okay to install the bottom bracket a bit higher than the directions suggest if that’s where the support is, the rail will still function as intended.

If you're unsure about the strength of the wall, you can add a backing plate behind it or use heavy-duty anchors. Just make sure everything is sealed up with exterior-grade sealant to prevent leaks like # 0160299. The # MR54BR is a great choice, especially with its extended length, it should really help your wife navigate the steps more safely during recovery.

Are you and your wife full time RVers? My Dad has been out there doing it for about 2 years now and is loving it!

Hey Dan, I'm glad to hear the MORryde Safe-T-Rail is a good fit for your trailer and should help your wife with the steps. How did the installation go? I'm curious because your experience could really help others in a similar situation.
