How Wide are the Wheel Trays on the Saris SuperClamp Bike Rack?

Updated 07/09/2025 | Published 07/02/2025

Question:

Hi, can you please tell me how wide the wheel trays are on the new Saris Superclamp G4? Im interested to know if the rack would stick out to the sides on my car 25 Mazda CX-5 when folded up during non-use. Thanks!

Hey Cheryl, congrats on the new car. The wheel trays are a bit different on the Saris SuperClamp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # SAR84YR. If you have a 29" tire they're 3" wide but if you have a 27-1/2" or smaller tire they're 4-1/2" wide. This bike rack accommodates bikes weighing up to 60 lbs a piece and wheelbases that are 28" to 52" wide.

The Saris SuperClamp item # SAR84YR will not stick out past the sides of your CX-5 when folded up. I have attached a picture below of this bike rack installed on a CX-5 so you can see for yourself.

What kind of bikes do you have?

I saw that photo, but wasn't sure from the angle of view if it extended beyond the side, that's why I was interested in the actual length. Just wanted to be sure. Thanks!
