Can the Top of the 24x60 etrailer Enclosed Cargo Carrier Cage Be Removed?
Updated 07/07/2025 | Published 06/30/2025 >
Question:
2021 Kia Soul. Vendor at Art Festivals. Currently storing EZUP tent and 6x2foot metal grids on roof rack but interior still not big enough. Need to know about ease of adding/removing when not in use and anything else you think I should consider. I know the items mentioned will not fit INTO cage. could they be strapped onto TOP of cage? If 72inch grids pose a problem, they can be cut in half for travel. I thought that I had seen something in the description about the option of removing temporarily some of the bars from the top.

Hey Laura. The top of the 24x60 etrailer Enclosed Cargo Carrier item # e54VV can not be removed. Additionally, the cage around the carrier is not rated to have things stored on top of it. The sides of the cage will not be able to support the gear in the carrier without the top installed.
The 24x60 etrailer Enclosed Cargo Carrier item # e54VV measures 61-1/2" wide x 25-3/4" deep x 31-1/2" tall with the cage installed. The spacing between the bars is 6" so maybe you can store your metal grids vertically inside the cage. It's pretty easy to remove if you have an extra hand to help you. The carrier and cage do weigh a combined 106 lbs.
What kinds of gear and supplies are you transporting?

Jerred, I am happy to have this info as I have purchased the carrier. EZUP tent and metal grids and misc., but not heavy, boxes, folding tables. I thought the set up was 60 lbs but weight isn't the issue, it's the height. We'll make it work, good to know not to stack on top.
