Question:
I am getting the message trailer connection has been lost.all the lights still work.when I use your connection tester everything works. I have put a new 7 way on the trailer. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Don, thanks for reaching out. When we see the trailer connection lost message with the Curt Echo # C51180 it is usually due to a dirty or corroded pin on your 7-way, or due to the controller not being inserted into the 7-way fully. Since your 7-way is new I assume corroded connections are not the problem but it might not hurt to clean your connections with a wire brush and apply some dielectric grease to confirm a clean/solid connection. Also make sure none of the pins on your 7-way are bent.
The trailer disconnected alarm has to do with the trailer brake controller pin draw on the 5 o'clock pin position on most vehicles. If you have a trailer connected and the alarm is on, you most likely don't have enough draw on that pin for the vehicle to recognize connection. Virtually every time I have seen this, the 7-way itself is at fault.
