Does Spare Tire Cover Need To Be Removed When Installing Curt C34UR Hitch Receiver On 2025 Corolla?
Updated 06/30/2025 | Published 06/25/2025 >
Question:
I am looking at the Curt C34UR - 1 1/4inch hitch to install on a 2025 Toyota Corolla LE Hybrid Sedan. I understand that I will need to cut the exhaust shield and spare tire cover. Just checking if the spare tire cover can be re-installed after the hitch is installed. I thought I saw comments that some experienced issues with not being able to install the spare tire cover or what ever the under cover is called after install. Can you confirm this hitch will fit this model Corolla and the cover / trim can be re-installed? Also, any other issues i should be aware of as well. I do understand I need to drill two holes in the frame. Thanks!

Hey Rob, great question, and luckily you do not need to remove or modify the spare tire cover in any way shape or form when installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I - 1-1/4" # C34UR. Check out the installation video I attached, along with the photo, which both show the spare tire and spare tire cover still in tact without any need to remove.
Other than that, you will indeed need to trim your exhaust heat shield and drill a couple holes, but nothing else noteworthy :).
Do you have any other concerns about it? What are you planning to put in the receiver after you install it?
