Hey Dave,
The Curt Venturer # C23GV is the correct brake controller for your 2005 Chevy Silverado. This brake controller fits that vehicle with or without the 7 pin plug on the back. it has an included adapter that plugs into a port already on your vehicle under the dash for installation. The included adapter that comes with that part is what you need to install. If you would rather just splice in you could but the adapter makes it a super simple plug and play application.
What trailer are you pulling with that vehicle?
