Hello Paul, thanks for reaching out. Powered converter modules like the Tekonsha # 118804 must be installed per the instructions meaning they need their own dedicated power source. Wiring the module directly to the battery is the best way to do this, and we will always recommend doing it this way. This way the module has a constant, dedicated power source.
Some people will try to avoid this step by wiring to a 12v source near the rear of the vehicle. This can sometimes work but is not recommended. The circuit may not be rated to handle the load and you could cause non-warranty damage to the module. Running the wire directly to the battery will be your best bet.
That said, the # 118804 is correct for the 2022 Acura RDX that does not have the 12v direct battery connection power provision. The manufacturer instructions that I linked on this page show the process in more detail.
What kind of trailer will you be pulling?

Hey Paul, did you get a chance to wire the converter module directly to the battery as recommended? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others with similar setups.
