Is it Normal for Surge Actuator to Not have Any Wires Ran to It

Question:
Hello- I have an older UFP A60, mounted on a Shore lander trailer. It seems to be a basic model with no electrical aspect. Is that correct? Thank you

Hey Jeff, it's definitely possible for a surge actuator to not have any electrical components. Normally the need for wiring or electronics on a surge coupler is for an electric reverse lockout to allow the trailer to be backed up. But some couplers have manual lockouts or if it's a drum brake setup there are free-backing brake assemblies that do not require any lockout at all. So what you have is very likely to be totally correct. Have you tried backing that trailer up yet?
