My Rear Camper Jacks Are No Longer Working, Checked Fuses, What Could Be The Issue?
Updated 06/20/2025 | Published 06/05/2025 >
Question:
We have a 2024 sunset trails camper. Our rear jacks worked fine, but when we went to go camping, all the sudden they do not work. The motor doesn’t run, my husband has checked the fuses and wires, but nothing appears to be tampered with or blown. What would cause the jacks to stop working all together? How can we tell if the switch is faulty?

Hey Stacey,
If you have already checked the fuses and wiring and nothing seems to be blown or damaged it could be an issue with the circuits. You will want to take a circuit tester and check the voltage across the circuits. Check if there is power going to the motor, if there is and they are not working the motor is bad. Check at the switch as well, if there is power to the switch then the switch is bad. If there is no power at the switch check the circuit breakers and voltage there.
There could be a hidden breaker or fuse somewhere. You'll also want to check that the battery is good and charged. It may sound silly but that could be a reason. If you want to let me know what specific jack system you have I can dig into more troubleshooting specifically for your system.

We have the PSX1 Lippert jack stabilizer jacks. My husband found a fuse and said it was blown, so we are gonna take the one from the front since they are broke right now, due to a boulder. I noticed it did have a burnt smell when I dropped the jacks manually.
