Question:

Hello, Im looking to purchase a trailer hitch for my 2006 dodge ram 2500. The hitch i have is behind my tag, I would like this to be under the bummer. Could you please recommend a hitch? I also dont have trailer wiring for my current hitch. Could please let me know what kind of of 7 pin connector i could purchase to install into the truck. Could you please send me wiring diagram also? Thank you for you help.

Hey Russell, thanks for reaching out!

I believe the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class V XD # C15409 is what you're looking for in a hitch, as the crosstube sits directly below the rear bumper. Then for a 7-Way we need to use both the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59236 along with the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This will require splicing into your OEM wiring so just a heads up there.

Do you already have a ball mount?

Thank you Jon! I have a connector hanging under the truck, its not a 4 way or 7 pin. It kind looks like you would plug a 7pin receptacle into it. The bumper was replaced with an aftermarket bumper and they might have disconnected the factory 7 pin receptacle. Can you recommend a 7 pin receptacle replacement? V/r, Russ

@RussellA Thanks for the photos you sent me! According to the pictures, you need the Hopkins # HM42190, which I recommend securing near your hitch receiver with the brackets # HM48625 and # C83DR. What do you think?
