Troubleshooting Worn Out Wear Disc of Sidewinder.

Updated 09/15/2025 | Published 05/23/2025

Question:

I installed reese sidewinder on my forest river RV and towed it from storage location to my driveway. I noticed that wear plate under the pivot shaft is misplaced and the box moves left no problem but doesn’t turn right when push it by hand. I wanted to ask if it normal or even safe. Should I just leave it there as is do something?

Its definitely time to replace the wear disc. I wouldn't recommend you continue to tow with it like that as it would potentially start to damage the Sidewinder. Its a bummer we don't carry it anymore but the wear disc repair kit is Reese part number 94316 .

Hey, did you have a chance to replace the wear disc on your Sidewinder? I'm asking because it could help others who might face a similar issue with their setup.

@JamesonC Yes Sir, I unscrewed the top nut and repositioned the wear plate. I put some grease on wear side. It is working fine now.
