2025 GMC Sierra 3500 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for Standard Bed with Puck System

Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/20/2024

Question:

I'm needing to upgrade my 5th wheel hitch for towing with my new 2025 GMC Sierra 3500 6.75 bed with factory pucks. My old setup used a non-sliding hitch and fixed into the bed rails that used to be the standard. Do I need a sliding hitch with this truck and what hitch can I get that will fit straight to the pucks? I don't want to use an adapter.

Great questions, Tucker!

For older trucks you would have had to use a sliding hitch, but a few years ago we found the newer GM trucks with a standard bed could work with a fixed hitch as long as the 5th wheel trailer has the newer tapered nose.

I recommend using the PullRite OEX Super 5th-Wheel Hitch # PUL36ZR for your towing setup because it checks off all of your boxes (fixed hitch that installs directly into the pucks on your truck) PLUS it only weighs in at 94 lbs which is super light for a 5th wheel hitch so it's much easier to move around than the vast majority of hitches on the market.

We've actually had the opportunity to install this on a 2023 Sierra 3500 so I'm attaching the video as well as a photo of it installed so you can get an idea of what this will look like on your 2025 model.

Hey Tucker, how did the PullRite OEX Super 5th-Wheel Hitch work out with your Sierra’s factory puck system? It sounds like a great fit for your setup. Your feedback could really help others upgrading to the newer GM trucks.
