Looking To Put Larger Rims On Trailer
Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 05/12/2025 >
Question:
Hello , I was looking to see if I could get some assistance getting a bigger rim for my trailer. My trailer currently has 5 bolt pattern but it seems that the space between the bolts is either 3 in or 2- 3/4. So I wanted to get a 2nd opinion before getting some suggestions

Hello Cristian, thanks for reaching out. Based on the measurements you provided it sounds like you have either the 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern or the 5 on 5" bolt pattern both of which are pretty uncommon.
I do suggest you measure again and double check that bolt pattern. Take a look at the screenshot I included below. It shows three different ways to measure the 5-bolt pattern. Personally, I prefer options 1 and 3 since they are the most accurate.
Once we have that nailed down, we can get into larger wheel/tire options. The big thing to keep in mind here is the clearance in your fender/wheel well area. Ideally you want 3" of clearance between the tire and the fender, and at least 1" between the inside of the tire and the frame of the trailer.
If you can tell me what size tires you are running, as well as the clearance with the current tire setup, I am happy to look into it and go over some option with you.
