Safety Chain Hook that Will Work with Ford F-150 Safety Chain Loop

Question:

Will this work with my F150 hitch. The loops on that truck are weird, and nearly nothing fits. C81266.

Hey Carlann, the safety chain loops on Ford F-150 are notoriously difficult to work with but we've seen several people say that 3/8 inch size hooks like the Curt part # C81266 that you referenced would work so this would work for you. We haven't had anyone come back and specifically say this exact hook works but it is the standard 3/8 inch size.

I bought a pair of the Curt C81266 to clip safety chains more easily to a 2016 F150 and can say this item definitely does NOT work well with this truck. The hook isn't big enough to clear back spring by the goofy flat holes on the f150 and I spent 5 minutes trying to get the bound up clip back off. This is exactly the aggregation I'm trying to avoid. I'm still interested in a safety chain clip that will fit easily.
