What are Parts 20 & 21 Used for When Installing the Roadmaster Base Plate on a 2024 Jeep Rubicon?

Updated 10/09/2025 | Published 05/03/2025

Question:

On the RM-521453-5, what are parts 20 and 21 used for, and how would they be installed? I have a 2024 Rubicon 2DR with plastic bumper and plastic rock guard. The instructions say that parts 20 and 21 are for Rubicons with plastic bumper. Page 11 of the instructions say to use the drawing and parts list on the separate inch to install them, but I didnt find that on your web site or Roadmasters site, nor do your nice videos mention these. Perhaps they are only needed for a *metal* rock guard, not a plastic one? I have all of the other parts I need Roadmaster Sterling tow bar, Brake Buddy, etc left over from my previous Jeep, but want to make sure I am comfortable with this Roadmaster baseplate before I order it.

Hey John! Parts 20 and 21 are used on page 10 to reattach the plastic rock guard. You can see them in figure F an G. Roadmaster definitely breezed over this step in their instructions for the Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit item # RM-521453-5.

Hope this clears up any confusion. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hey John, did you find the information on page 10 helpful for reattaching the plastic rock guard on your Rubicon? I'm asking because your experience could help others who are setting up their Roadmaster baseplate.

@JerredH I ended up not using those parts because they didn’t seem to be needed on the plastic rock guard on my Rubicon. As best I could tell, they would only be used if you had a metal rock guard.
