Hello Ryan,

The CE Smith trailer # CE48870 is a solid choice for hauling a 14-foot aluminum boat. It’s actually designed for boats up to 14 feet, so you’re right at the sweet spot. Now, in terms of how much of your boat might hang off the back it’ll depend a bit on how you position the boat and how the bunks are set up. Typically, from the winch post to the end of the bunks, you’ll have about 11 to 12 feet of support. So with a 14-foot boat, you can expect around 2 feet to extend past the bunks. That’s totally normal and perfectly safe, as long as the transom (the back end of the boat) is still well-supported and not just hanging out in space. If you’ve got a heavier outboard motor, you might want to adjust the bunks a bit farther back for extra support.

What do you mainly take the boat out for, catching dinner?

I take it take it to the local lakes to spend time with my son or friends mainly fishing for trout or just spending the day on the lake.
