What Bearings, Races, and Seal do I Need for My 2023 Airstream Basecamp 20 with 4,300lbs Axle?

Updated 04/21/2025 | Published 04/16/2025

Question:

Looking for part numbers for inner/outer wheel bearings, seal, race for a 2023 Airstream Basecamp 20. Axle is Dexter PN: 410980-27, S/N: 121499719007, NEV-R-ADJ, 11 Capacity 4300 LBS. Beginning to plan for bearing repack and spare parts for summer travel. Thanks. I could send a photo of the axle tag but I dont know how to do that.

Hello Wallace,

Looks like you got the right one ordered for your 2023 Airstream Basecamp 20, the Bearing Kit, 15123/ 25580 Bearings, 10-36 Seal # BK3-100 which is commonly for 6K axles, but your 4,300 pound axle has the beefier spindles.

I am sorry for the delay in response, received quite the spike in questions and are getting caught up. If you need a return label please let me know.

Kate, The items you identified are for the Basecamp 16 trailer (3500 lb rating). That axle does not use a 16" wheel. The items I ordered are for the Basecamp 20 trailer (rated at 4300 lb). My trailer uses a 16" wheel. I was able to identify what I needed when I contacted a Dexter Axle support person. It took them some research to identify the parts. The 121499719 axle documentation is a two page document: page one is for the 3500 axle and page two is for the 4300 axle. That causes some confusion until you realize there is a second page. Thanks for your reply and your time. It's a very difficult area to research. Thank you.

@Wb Thanks for the information WB. You are right, it is kind of a gray area. I am not sure why they put the 4,300 pound axles on the trailers, kind of like the old 4,400 pound axles, which do use the 3,500 pound parts. Why not just stick with the common sizes and make it easier for the consumer? I really do appreciate you letting me know in case I get this questions again in the future. I am glad that they guys at Dexter got you taken care of.
