Question:

I have a 2017 Toyota Highlander with factory roof rack. Model: PT27848170. It has a load capacity of 165 lbs. My kayak is a Jackson Kayak Kilroy DT. It’s a tandem. Kayak size: 14’ 8” long, 33” width, 15” deck height, weight 108 lbs. I need recommendations on a foldable Kayak roof mounted rack,

Hey Darrell, thanks for reaching out!

I recommend picking up the LockRack Series-X Universal Adjustable Watersport Carrier # LR24VR because it has locking arms that you push together to keep the kayak secured in place. You still need front and rear tie-downs, but you don't have to use straps that go across the width of the kayak.

When you aren't carrying the kayak, the arms store sideways in the base system so you get a sleeker low-profile look.
