When you’re towing serious weight on long stretches of highway, this setup gives you the muscle and speed confidence to match. The Kenda Karrier KR53 ST235/80R16 radial tire carries a 3,520-lb maximum load at 85 psi, paired with a 16" x 6" steel wheel rated for 3,750 lbs. With a Load Range E (10-ply rating) and an N speed rating for 87 mph, it’s built to handle heat, distance, and heavy cargo without flinching—all while meeting DOT specs.
Road grime, rain, and even saltwater won’t get the best of this wheel. The steel modular design is finished with a two-step process that starts with an e-coat primer and ends with a black powder coat. It’s the kind of finish that keeps rust at bay and looks sharp season after season.
The KR53 radial tire uses a computer-optimized wide tread pattern and premium rubber compound to keep traction steady no matter the conditions. The low-weight design helps improve fuel economy on longer trips, while the sidewalls are engineered for durability and resistance to ozone exposure. It’s a reliable, balanced feel that holds steady on the road.
No need for extra shop time or mounting fees—this tire comes pre-mounted and properly inflated. Just bolt it on and go. The assembly’s 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, 4.90" pilot diameter, and compatibility with 1/2"-20 or 9/16"-18 wheel bolts make installation straightforward when you’re swapping in a spare or replacement.
Things happen out on the road, but Kenda’s got you covered. If this tire is damaged in any way within the first 12 months, it will be replaced at no charge. That’s solid reassurance for anyone who racks up miles with their trailer.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this Kenda Karrier KR53 tire and wheel assembly. It's an ST235-80R16 radial trailer tire with a nice elegant 16 inch black mod wheel with an 8 on 6 1/2 inch lug pattern. Now, this tire wheel assembly is gonna be ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, campers, those kind of things. Now that being said, it has been created specifically for trailers, and therefore, it's not intended for use on other vehicles.
Now, the steel wheel here that you're seeing is a 16 inch diameter that's bead seat to bead seat, and it is 6 inch wide on the width. It has a center pilot hole of 4.90 inches. It's rated at 3,750 pounds on the wheel capacity. And if you see these round circles on the outside, that's what's called the mod or modular design. It has a nice e-coat primer with a black powder coat finish.
So you can see it's got that nice brilliant shine to it. Very nice dark, deep black color there with a nice shine. And I like how they've done the inside of the wheel as well. Not all brands do that. Some brands just do the outside that you see.
So very nice touch. Now, the sidewalls on this tire itself have been engineered and built for enhanced durability and resistance to ozone exposure. So UV rays, those kind of things. It is a nice computer-optimated wide tread design on the tread itself. And they've used premium rubber compound materials that offers pure traction in both wet and dry conditions.
This whole wheel and tire assembly meets all DOT specifications. And as you know, again, it's an ST tire. That just means it's a special trailer tire, so it's low weight, it's gonna provide better fuel economy on long trips and those kind of things. It's a load range E, which means it's a 10-ply tire. The outer diameter when it's fully inflated, like you see before me, is 30.6 inches. And zooming back in, I don't know if you notice, but it actually has a nice steel valve assembly there, which is a nice touch as well. So a lot heavier duty than the basic rubber ones. The speed range rating is speed range N, and that is 87 miles per hour. So please, let's make sure we're, number one, following the rules of the road. But the number one failure for tires is excessive heat. So make sure you're obeying all the rules of the road, number one, but number two, the speed ratings on all your tires. Now, this whole capacity when combined like it is now is rated for 3,520 pounds at 85 PSI. Now, as far as the lug pattern, again, it's an 8 lug on 6 1/2 inch, and you can use both half inch or 9/16 inch wheel bolt sizes. Well folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look together. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.

Wheel arrived as scheduled, unfortunately they don’t protect the wheel in any way so my brand new spare is already scratched up.
Very good service. Tire arrived as expe cted.
Great!!! ready to roll
Very happy with this item (5 stars)…the shipping was less than desired. Shipping was extremely fast but my powder coated wheel showed up beat to HELL (give shipping a 1 star rating)!

That's no good at all, Greg! If you haven't mounted them yet, and if you want, I have have replacement shipped out. Let me know and I can get that taken care of.
Really happy! Order was received and processed quickly.
Super easy ordering and fast shipping. Will order again.
Great service! Hassle free. Will order again.
Great simple tire on rim. I just bought a new equipment trailer and the dealer didn't have any extra tires available for spares so this one will make a fine spare.
Real fast delivery. Very satisfied.
Fast To Ship, thank you
Perfect price
Great product!
The purchase process was excellent, very easy and the rep I spoke with was very knowledgeable and helpful. I recommend this place for all your trailer needs
I was a little disappointed that these tires were foreign made. Great delivery on time. Got several calls from Etrailer recommended installers most were either too far from me or too expensive. I used a local tire store to install tire tires less than half the cost. I am not sure how the tires will last but time will tell
Pretty easy to find what I was looking for. Decent price, super fast shipping. Would recommend and buy from again
Came the right size bolted up great about $35.00 cheaper than a trailer dealer.
