Can Curt Front Hitch C31086 Work With Steel Skid Plate On 2022 Jeep Gladiator Latitude
Updated 04/17/2025 | Published 04/15/2025 >
Question:
Good Morning, I have a 2022 jeep gladiator altitude. I installed a curt front hitch receiver to it and love it. Now I want to replace the front plastic skid plate with a Rubicon steel skid plate. The question is will the steel Rubicon front skid plate bolt on the Jeep altitude with the curt front hitch installed? I know I will need to cut a hole for the hitch to fit through like the plastic one but will the hitch interfere with mounting the Rubicon Steel Front Bumper. Thank you,

Hey Bob, thanks for reaching out. The steel skid plate is tricky. It is possible to modify the plastic skid plate to accommodate the front hitch. Cutting the metal skid plate would be way trickier though. For this reason, front hitch manufacturers recommend leaving the metal skid plate off permanently. So you would have to either stick with the plastic skid plate or do some modifications to the metal skid plate and find a way to cut out a section for the hitch while making sure its still safely installed. There is no handbook or instructions for this though so you might have to get creative.

Thank you very much for the assistance with this. Looks like I will give it a try as I can pick up a new skid plate for very little money. I'll use my plastic plate with a opening cut out for the steel plate and I'll let you know how it works out! Have an awesome day!
